What is GLT?

Highly engaging, fun learning experience that builds critical business skills and team work which you need to succeed.

Global Leaders Tournament is an interactive virtual learning experience and competition designed for teams of 3 to 5 people. Over 5 weeks, participants run a simulated company in direct competition with teams from other junior chambers around the globe. Every week, each team will spend 2-4 hours planning and executing a year’s worth of business decisions for the virtual company — one practice round and four years of business planning in all.

Ultimate success is determined by a team’s ability to maximize growth, customer and employee satisfaction and profit, all against the backdrop of intense global competition. GLT is an excellent way to build teamwork and learn new financial skills to apply back on the job – and the team that does it best will be the Global Leaders 2010 and can participate in BTS Global Semifinals in autumn 2010!

Tournament process

  1. Pre-work, including Know-the-Business: Assessing Financial Performance (2-3 hour online course) and business case describing the simulated company you and your team will be leading (approx. 1 hour reading).
  2. Teams work together to analyze their company, set strategy and execute using the simulation-planning tool.
  3. Access an online business acumen resource at your leisure between rounds. Feedback is distributed and posted after each simulation and results are posted on the tournament central website.
  4. Process repeats itself for a practice round and four simulated years over 5 exciting weeks. You should expect to spend an average of 2-4 hours every week with your team.

Global Leaders Tournament will take place in May-June 2010 and teams can sign up until April 16th. Here you can find more detailed tournament schedule.
